Hackney Marshes to become ‘the home of cricket in East London’ | east London

Hackney Marshes, long the home of grassroots football in east London, will soon be hosting cricket games.

Eastlondonlines reports that the recreation area will see the development of eight new cricket grounds, which are set to open next summer.

The development funded by Hackney Council and the England and Wales Cricket Board will include seven artificial cricket pitches and three fine turf squares.

A new Hackney Marshes Centre will also be built, providing changing rooms, refreshment areas and classrooms.

Boris buys us a Bois de Dalston

The low key launch of east London’s answer to Paris’s Bois de Boulogne was covered by Loving Dalston this week.

The blog reports that the fast-growing wood of birches and other native plants was funded by the London Development Agency.
