Pathfinder rips heart out of city – Salford

Salford Star reports on the admission by Liverpool Council’s leader  that the Housing Market Renewal Pathfinder, has “ripped the heart” out of communities and left whole areas looking like “war zones”.

The blog reflects on how hearing similar stories in Salford and speculates whether Warren Bradley’s admission will prompt Salford’s political leaders own up to mistakes with its own programme.

Sure Start row breaks out at Beverley hustings | East Yorkshire

Some 400 members of the public turned up to see the main party candidates battle it out for the Beverley and Holderness parliamentary seat.

The biggest ‘spat’ of the evening was when two candidates locked horns over the future of the constituency’s four Sure Start centres.

The hustings event was organised by Beverley Churches together and chaired by that group’s Rev Jeremy Fletcher.

Live at the lido | Portsmouth

An open air fundraising concert is being held at the Hilsea Lido in Portsmouth on 22 May.

The concert is billed as an opportunity for the community to show its support for the revival of the Hilsea Lido.

The concert will take place within the area surrounding the main pool, however the pool itself will remain closed to the public until next year.

Community not involved in design concept for Kings Cross Square | north London

Local bloggers have hit out at the ‘mismanaged competition’ to select a designer for the square in front of Kings Cross station.

The lack of community input in the process has been highlighted by Kings Cross Local Environment following the selection of Stanton Williams as designers.
